“Miisa May is an artist and a singer-songwriter based in Finland whose music is soulful modern pop with nuances of jazz. From 2024 onwards Miisa is studying in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Writing and Production (pop and jazz music, Musician) as her Major Subject.

Miisa was chosen as one of the most promising Finnish young songwriters for the 2018 Top 20 – Future Hitmakers course organized by Teosto, Finnish Music Publishers and Music Finland. During the course, she received valuable feedback from experts in the field, such as Risto Asikainen, Patric Sarin and Axel Ehnström. Miisa’s compositions have been heard for example in the spring of 2021 on Turku Barker Theater’s stage for independent art in the musical dance work “Little Prince” directed by Jenni Uimonen, in which Miisa performed the title role. “The songs composed and interpreted by Miisa Tunturi are astonishing in their richness, especially in their lyrics, and they become the leading force of the work,“ wrote Suvi Satama in June 2021 in Turun Sanomat about Little Prince. Miisa May has also been seen on The Voice of Finland season 9.

Miisa’s songs have been described to remind the music of artists like Taylor Swift, Adele and Alicia Keys. Miisa’s versatile songs are about her life – telling stories about different kind of relationships as well as surviving from the demands of our society.

When on stage Miisa is authentic, professional and likes to transmit the whole scale of emotions to the audience through her music and performing.”
